For the past few years now, the makeup/skincare and general products I buy and use are 90% cruelty-free. The only time really where I'm not able to do this, is when I'm away with work and forget to pack my toiletries (oops). Where possible, when it's the choice between a cruelty-free product and one that's not - I will always choose the first option. For me, I use Instagram accounts who dedicate their time to do research into the best cruelty-free options as inspiration and I always look out for either the Leaping Bunny logo or the PETA Beauty Without Bunnies logo. That way, I know I can buy those products without any guilt that I may be harming lovely animals! There are a lot of amazing cruelty-free brands out there, but today I've written a post on my favourites, and the products I swear by!

1) REVOLUTION MAKEUP
My go-to cruelty-free makeup brand as I love everything I've ever got from them. I usually purchase their products from Superdrug, and everything is so reasonably priced. I've used their foundation drops for work for the past year and a half and can't really fault it! I also use their Conceal & Define full coverage concealer (I have the supersize version as well as the ordinary size).

2) Dr. PAWPAW
This is a brand that I discovered by accident whilst shopping in TKMAXX. I purchased the full-sized Multipurpose balm in 'Tinted Peach Pink then later purchased the mini version in red. The red one is great for when I'm at work, as it keeps my lips looking moisturised but also adds a pop of colour on too. I use their Lip Scrub and balm around twice a week as part of my pamper routine. The lip scrub is so gentle on my lips, and after the balm, my lips feel as smooth and healthy as ever.

3) Lush
Lush has been a favourite of mine for years. I still remember when my auntie bought me my first Lush bath bomb when I was much younger. Over the past few years, they have always been my go-to for cruelty-free bath products. Snow fairy is my favourite scent, and I have this in the shower gel and the solid naked shower gel too. For Christmas I was kindly gifted their toothpaste tabs, and whilst it took me a while to get used to the taste, they're now a staple in my work bag or just generally on the go. It's so easy to use them on the plane when I brush my teeth, and they don't count towards my liquids allowance. I love Lush's shampoo bars too, and I love treating myself to those. They seem to last a very long time too, so worth the money.

4) Anastasia Beverly Hills
I had wanted to get my hands on an Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palette for years, and I was lucky enough to receive both the Modern Renaissance and the Soft Glam palettes for Christmas just gone. I totally get the hype now. The colours are beautiful, and they often have good deals on them in America. I have also used their Blush Trio which I purchased from TKMAXX (where I see a lot of their products). All 3 of these products are so pigmented and have lasted me a long time.

5) Primark PS
A few years ago, the thought of purchasing beauty products from Primark seemed strange to me, but over the past year or so, the beauty section in my local Primark has really grown and it looks amazing. I often use their lipsticks for work as they last a while and are super cheap (and obviously cruelty-free). I was after a mascara and on a whim picked up their False Lash Queen mascara whilst shopping and wow, it's great. If you're after a glowy primer, their Prep & Perfect primer isn't too bad, though I'm sure there are probably better cruelty-free primers out there. I must say I have been impressed with their skincare products, and I often purchase their facemasks. If you're after cheap cruelty-free makeup, especially if you're a beginner, then this is a great place to shop. Whenever it is safe for us to go out to shops like Primark again, there are definitely a few products I need to top up on.

6) MUA Cosmetics
One of the first highlighters I ever purchased was from MUA, and I still remember how many compliments I got on it. Even now, as I'm writing this post, I'm sat here thinking to myself - why haven't I repurchased this?!

7) Morphe
I first discovered Morphe when I was shopping in an Orlando Mall last year, and now I have to pop in every time I'm there with work. I have their 350 eyeshadow palette and have also purchased their fluidity full coverage foundation and many, many brushes too. A lot of their brushes are vegan, and they are happy to point those out to you in the store. I think their products are very well priced actually, and I can't wait to go back and pick up some more products. You can purchase Morphe products on the Cult Beauty website, so it's easy to get items from them in
the UK too.

8) ELF
I purchased the ELF Poreless Putty Primer not too long and I think it's really great! I don't have that many products from ELF, but I think they're great value for money and some friends of mine really rate their products.

9) Superdrug's skincare range
When I first started making the transition to purchasing cruelty-free products, Superdrug was my best friend. Their own-brand skincare range, as well as their body wash/shampoo/hairspray, are all cruelty-free and even now I try to get as much as I can from there! A firm favourite of mine is their hot cloth cleanser, which is as good as the Liz Earle one, but much much cheaper!

10) Too Faced
My Too Faced Natural Eyes palette is my go-to when it comes to natural eye makeup. It's a great size, is augmented, and has lasted me a long time! I don't have too many of their products as I find them quite pricey, but it's a lovely brand.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Don't know if it's just me, but I thought spending time at home with no makeup on would help my skin, but that's not panned out as I hoped! My skin is going through a weird patch right now, and after some research online I saw may people raving about The Ordinary and Carbon Theory's products, so I decided to do an online order from Beauty Bay and here's what I purchased:
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; text-align: center;">I had seen quite a few people reviewing The Ordinary's coverage foundation on YouTube and they all seemed pretty positive. The foundation that I wear ran out a few weeks ago so I was in need of a new one. This one only has 15 SPF, so not as much as I'd like but I can always make up for that with my moisturiser/sunscreen.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The main issue I've been having with my skin is breakouts - it seems to be every week recently, and nothing is working for me. I was forever seeing an advert for this product - the Carbon Theory Charcoal and Tea Tree oil Breakout control facial cleansing bar. After reading more about it, it seemed like it might help my skin - here's to hoping. Usually, tea tree works really well with my skin, so I'm feeling optimistic about this product.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I was after something more natural that would help hydrate my skin. My face has been quite dry recently, even though I'm not flying (which usually is the main cause for my dry skin). I went for the 100% Plant-Derived Squalane. It's labelled as an 'exceptional hydrator' so I'm looking forward to seeing how true that is.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I follow a lot of dermatologists on social media and every single one of them talks about the importance of vitamin C. It is meant to brighten skin and reduce the signs of ageing, so I'm going to make it part of my everyday skincare routine from now on.

I've always had pretty dry skin but wow flying has taken it to a whole new level. With this cold weather, I've started to incorporate more into my skincare routine to ensure my skin is lovely and hydrated. I often get asked on my Instagram how I keep my skin and body hydrated so I decided it would be easiest to put it into a blog post. It's also the first time I'm using my phone camera as opposed to my DSLR for today's post, let me know what you think of the pictures below!..

Body

First off let's start off with my base. These are the products I put on my skin whilst getting ready for work. I always put on some form of body moisturiser soon as I get out of the shower. As it's now getting closer to Christmas, I've started using my winter favourite which is the Peppermint Candy Cane Body Lotion from The Body Shop. It smells like Christmas and keeps my hands and body moisturised for hours. For the flight, I put some of this into a small tub so that it fits within my liquid allowance and I'm able to take it on board with me. As far as I am aware, you can still buy this Peppermint Candy Cane range in stores.

Face
Once I moisturise my body I use a hydrating mist for my face. I got this Rosewater & Coconut Facial Mist from TKMaxx and it's quite nice. The scent is refreshing but I feel it can sometimes not feel so great if my skin is being particularly sensitive one day. With that being said, it does an amazing job of hydrating my skin. I used a generous amount on my skin and the scent is lovely. I tend to let this sink in whilst I'm doing my hair or getting dressed before putting other products on my skin.

Face
This moisturiser has been a favourite of mine for years. Not only is it cruelty-free, but the scent is amazing and works well with my sensitive skin. It can be bought online but I usually purchase mine from my local boots. Their Hot Cloth Cleanser is also amazing too. I use this moisturiser more in the winter as I find it quite thick, and in the summer months, my skin doesn't need so much. I let this sink in for a few minutes before putting on my foundation and it makes a lovely base.

Lips
Lip balm is a must on and off the plane. I apply this whenever I have the chance. While I'm flying I am applying lipstick fairly often too, but this dries them out. This lip balm is cruelty-free, super cheap and super moisturising. I feel like I struck gold when I picked this up one day in town when I forgot to put lip balm in my handbag. I keep this in my gilet pocket and apply it every half hour or so and usually, this stops my lips drying out throughout the flight. I can't seem to find this product online, but I usually find it near the tills in-store, along with their hand wipes (which smell lush) and their hand cream (which I am yet to try).

Face
Even after hydrating my skin prior to applying my makeup, the plane still dries my skin out. I usually notice it around 4hr into the flight. I spray this on my face after the food service (so around 3hr in) then before and after my break. Sometimes after spraying this I then apply some concealer using a damp beauty blender on parts of my face which are looking particularly dry.

Other things to note:
Keeping your body hydrated helps to keep your skin hydrated too. I try to drink as much water as possible on the flight and have peppermint tea when I need to warm up. Once I get to my hotel room I take my makeup off straight away, wash my face, apply spot treatment (as flying usually breaks me out) and moisturise. When I have time, I usually apply a facemask before pickup too, in preparation for the next flight.

Hello everyone! Hope you are all well. Today I've got a blog post on what I find to be cabin crew essentials. I've been flying for almost a year now and over that time I have found there are certain things that I cannot live without on my working days. I have also included links to products I've mentioned so it's easy for you to purchase them if you want to :)

1) Comfy shoes to drive in
After a long day at work on your feet, and after taking those heels off, it's nice to have something more comfortable to wear. During training, a friend suggested that I had comfy shoes to wear for the drive to/from work and they've been a lifesaver. I wear the fluffiest memory foam slipper type shoes when I drive. Make sure to wear ones that are safe to drive-in so you're not breaking the law - so maybe not flip flops. Trust me, your feet will thank you on the drive home - especially if you commute.

2) A reusable liquids bag
I used to use the thin plastic bags provided by the airport for my liquids but after a week of short-haul they would just rip and it felt like a waste of plastic. Someone on Instagram messaged me and suggested buying a reusable one from Superdrug. I've had it for about 4 months now and it's doing fab. I always carry one of the airport bags just in case I get someone in security query it (even though it's the right dimensions). I bought the set of three, and use the medium one for my liquids. They're a set of 3 but I use all 3 for my travels in one way or another - the smallest one is great for keeping all your cables in!

3) A reusable water bottle
It's so so important to stay hydrated when you're on and off the plane, and we always make sure we drink lots of water at work (when we get time!). The only issue is, it's hard to know who's bottle of water is whos when they all look the same. I always just bring my own bottle, that way I 100% know which water is mine. It's also good having your own bottle as most are big enough to put ice/lemon etc in - because for the life of me I cannot fit ice through the tiny spout of a single-use bottle.

4) Cardigan and hot water bottle
I used to freeze to death in the crew bunks on my break until someone told me they don't travel without their work cardigan and hot water bottle. When you first start out you have no idea how cold the bunks or a door can be - I once got a cold from sitting by a door and being so cold. You can always bring pj's and an extra blanket for the bunks if you fancy. A top tip in case you forget your hot water bottle is to make your own. Put hot (but not boiling) water in a water bottle and wrap it in some fluffy socks - voila, a DIY hot water bottle!

5) An overnight kit
It wasn't until I had a few friends who had unexpected night stops that I started packing an overnight kit. Even on the shortest of flights, you don't know whether your aircraft can go tech away from base so it's good to pack something just in case. I always pack my makeup/brushes, pj's, flip flops, toothbrush and spare underwear. You can definitely pack more but I find that's enough for me. It's also good to keep some things in your carry on in case your luggage in the hold gets lost - trust me, I know first hand.

6) Skin saviours
My skin was fairly nice until I started being crew. Now I get breakouts left right and centre - but I also get oily skin for the first time in my life. Tha's why I always pack a tea tree oil face mist to calm the breakouts and loose setting powder for the oiliness in my carry on. After breaks especially I feel my skin always needs a little help.

7) A book or kindle
Quite often now I get trips that just consist of sitting by a pool for a few days - it's a hard life. I never used to pack a book or anything because I thought 'well I can just go on my phone.' That was until I realised that a phone in 43-degree heat isn't perhaps the best idea. I just started reading 'The Perfect Girlfriend' (which is fab btw) and it's my current pool time read. It's also much nicer for my mind to read rather than just sitting there scrolling through social media - especially after a particularly long flight.

8) Snacks, snacks, snacks.
They are my lifeline when I am jet-lagged and hungry at 3am down route. It is so nice to just have a cereal bar, a pot noodle or some porridge in your room when you're hungry rather than having to venture out to the hotel gift shop and pay $5 for a chocolate bar.

9) Good quality hand cream and lip balm
My hands and lips are the first things to dry out on the plane - mostly as I find myself washing my hands 100 times a flight. No passenger wants to see dry sore hands (and they don't feel nice for us either) and a good quality hand cream will ensure your hands feel super smooth all flight. Lipstick also dries my lips out a lot so lip balm is a must!
Lip balm: https://bit.ly/2lHhGoF

10) Fabric refresher
My uniform always smells like a plane when I get to the hotel and it's not nice. So, I always travel will a handy small spray bottle filled Astonish Fabric Refresher and it works a treat. It definitely makes putting your uniform on for the flight home much more pleasant. Also Astonish is a cruelty-free brand and most of their products are only £1 so win win!

Hello everyone, it's been some time. My previous blog post was written whilst I was finishing my master's degree, and a lot has changed since then. I have become a qualified cabin crew member and have been flying a few months now. Today's post is a bit different than what I usually do, but it's a post that has been requested and a post that would have helped me prior to my training. This post will include tips on certain parts of the training as well as what to wear and getting through the exams. A lot of this is obviously tailored to my experience at training, so it goes without saying that different airlines etc. will do things differently. But hopefully, this will still help!

Clothing
The most important thing is to make sure you're comfortable but still pretty smart. You're going to be doing a lot of moving around during practicals and general training so you need to be able to work in what you wear. With that being said, I feel as though heels are a no go. For fire and safety training you will be required to wear flats for safety reasons anyway so it saves a lot of hassle. If you do though feel more comfortable in heels and wish to just switch between those and flats, go right ahead. You will be reaching into overhead lockers, crouching down in toilets and doing CPR on a dummy so the more practical your clothes and shoes, the better. After a few weeks, you might get asked to wear your uniform for the rest of your training which actually makes deciding what to wear a lot easier - just make sure you always wear it to uniform standard.

I mostly wore smart stretchy trousers with a cotton shirt or smart top. I also wore black dolly shoes which were perfect. A tip would be to make sure you wear a watch, and this will come in handy when learning your decompression drills.

Fire Smoke & Fumes
As a cabin crew member you will need to learn how to deal with a fire, smoke or fumes incident in case it happens on board the aircraft. e.g smoke in the toilet or fire in an overhead locker. Once you go through learning about fire smoke and fumes you will be able to think of different ways to approach each situation. The main things is that you remember to use your equipment - a BCF will be your best friend. Take your time and think through what you're doing. At the end of the day, you won't be fighting a real fire during training, though it may feel that way.

Ultimately the trainers want to see that you are being safe (protecting yourself, the other crew and your passengers) and that you know what to do should an incident happen on board.

Safety Equipment
Your safety equipment is so important. When you're a crew member it's the first thing you check when you get on board the aircraft. Examples of equipment include; oxygen, BCF, PBE, lifejacket and torch. There are other things that you will need to check too but you'll learn those. You will learn how to use these, the safety checks on them and how long they should last for.

In terms of revising for your SEP equipment assessments, use what is available to you. For my training, there was a room with all of the SEP equipment we had to study. In our free time, we could go into the room and familiarise ourselves with it whenever we wanted. Sometimes physically doing things is better than just reading about it - especially when you're trying to learn how each piece of equipment works.

Revision
For me, I found that the best way for me to revise was to do practice exams or to get some of my group members to test my knowledge. Everyone learns differently, but find a style that works for you. I had just finished university so I wasn't too out of the 'revising for exams' mindset. There were others in my group though that hadn't done exams for quite a few years. But, we got there in the end! We all found what worked for us.

A friend of mine found it best to wake up an hour earlier in the morning and revise then, whilst others liked revising into the night. The most important thing is to make sure you revise though, as the exams really do test what you've studied.

You don't need to study whenever you have free time, you need to sleep, relax and eat too, but it is important that you just do it at some point.

Exams
Exams can be stressful. During cabin crew training you are expected to learn quite fast, and you are tested on your knowledge all the way through. But, as long as you do your homework, revise and listen in class, there's no reason why you shouldn't ace it all. I remember at the beginning of our exams our trainers would always say 'just make sure you read the blooming question and read the blooming answers.' As obvious as it sounds, sometimes a lot of the answers sound similar, or the question requires more than one answer. When you're in an exam it's easy to have the mindset 'I want this to be over as quickly as possible,' but in thinking this way, you're likely to skim read a question or not read all the answers. I did that myself in the beginning. So just take your time. The exams have a timer on so you always know how much time you have left, and you are given plenty of time too.

It's important in the exam to not distract the other people on your course. Don't ask them questions etc. whilst you are meant to be taking your test. Not worth being disqualified for. You do know the answer, have faith in yourself.

The trainers for my group were so helpful, and if you were unsure what a question is asking you, they are more than happy to re-word the question for you. Obviously, don't ask them to re-word every one, but one per exam they're more than happy with.

One final thing I'd say about exams is just be mindful of your group. Not everyone will pass every exam first time, so be aware if a member of your group looks upset. Support them, maybe help them revise for their retake, and just let them know that it's normal to not ace everything the first time!

Practical assessments/Drills
Clothing is important in this. You need to be wearing clothes that will allow you to do your drills and CPR without issue. Wearing a watch is a must, but any other jewellery may have an impact. For example, my earrings got ripped out when I put on my PBE during my equipment exam, and my necklace got ripped off taking off my lifejacket in my drills.

Take your time to make sure you are doing everything you are meant to. Drill cards are also by your crew seat so they can be helpful too if you are allowed to look at those. Help your other crew members, you are a team - and this is the way it will be when you're online too. Lastly, I would say take it seriously. There's nothing worse than feeling like not everyone is taking it seriously and trying their best.

My friends and I would often practice our drills in our hotel in the evening - taking it in turns to do each role and each scenario. This might be a great way of helping you too.
<span style="background-color: #0084ff; color: white; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 13px; white-space: pre-wrap;">
Self Care
When you're in the mode of study, learn, sleep, it can be easy to forget that you need some downtime too. Every night I spent just half an hour watching Netflix in the bath. No revising in there, just relaxing. It helped me de-stress from the day, ensuring I could get a good nights sleep ready for the next day.

Food
For me, this is quite an important topic, as a hungry mind is no use to anyone. To make sure you perform at your best, you need to make sure you're eating and drinking enough. It's easy to skip meals when you're nervous or stressed, but food or water will only help. I also made sure to bring snacks with me when I was training away from home. My training was split between two locations, which meant spending quite a few nights in a hotel. I made sure to take food and snacks with me just in case I didn't fancy going out to dinner one night.

I recently found this tissue mask in my draw... I totally forgot I got it for Christmas! I have super dry skin all year round (but especially since the freezing weather the first half of this year). Although the weather is warming up (yay) I feel like my skin needs a bit of nourishment. I decided to give the mask a try and here's what I thought of it!

The good:
- It's not too expensive. Priced at £2.99 (via Feel Unique, link below) it's a nice cheap treat.

- It's definitely moisturising! There is so much serum in the packet and on the mask. It says on the instructions to rub the remaining serum into the skin after taking the mask off which felt great.

-It was simple and easy to use.

-There was pretty much no mess! With many other facemasks, the product tends to get everywhere and it can be very messy. However, this mask was mess-free!

-The next morning my skin felt super soft and moisturised so I didn't need to use any moisturiser which was great.

The not so good:
-For me, products being cruelty-free are a big thing. This was a gift that I got for Christmas, so there was no reason for this to go to waste. I do however feel like next time I would like to purchase a cruelty-free alternative.

-The mask itself felt kind of huge. It felt like it was almost too big for my face as it was difficult to line up the eye hole/mouth hole with my eyes and mouth lol.

-I have sensitive skin and I do think that those with skin more sensitive than mine may not want to use this. I could feel some irritation there after about 5/6mins. I did manage to keep it on for the 15 mins and it was alright but do be careful.

Verdict out of 10: 8

Where can I buy it? Here
The prices you see below were what they were priced at in the store. It was meant to come to a total of £21. However, because of an extra deal, I ended up only paying £12.60... how amazing is that?!
Would definitely recommend checking out Gunwharf Quays! I already can't wait to go back and pick up some more goodies. I'm going to try all of these products out and if I reeeeally like a particular product then I will probably do a review - so keep your eyes peeled for that.

You know when you're in the queue waiting to pay, and there's always those products in the till isles that catch you eye? Well.. this is one of those products. This product was picked up in the queue in Superdrug! I gave it a try and here are my thoughts on it:

When I initially got the product out of my drawer to try, I was a bit confused on how to not get conditioner everywhere. I have never died my hair either so I wasn't sure how to go about this, but I decided to make a towel cape and it worked perfectly!

When I was taking the product out, I thought that there would be too much product since I have short hair, but I think that's because I don't us much conditioner when I wash my hair. However, it turns out there was a perfect amount. I would say, however, that if you have long hair then the mask might only cover the ends/bottom section of your hair, but I'm sure that will work great too.

I love the scent of coconut. I have coconut shampoo and body lotion so it's safe to say that I was inclined to buy the product because of the scent. However, if you are like my sister and hate anything that smells of coconut then perhaps this isn't the product for you, as the scent is lovely but strong.

How to use:
The instructions say the mask is to be left on for 10-20 minutes - I guess it depends on how much time you have to spare. I have recently been loving pampering mornings instead of pampering evenings so on this particular morning I could spend 20 minutes.

The good
-As I said before, the scent is super lovely! I love coconut.
-It was super easy to use, and 10-20 minutes isn't too long.
-The price - it was only £1 which is nice for a little treat.
-Palmer's is a cruelty-free company and does not conduct product tests on animals.
-It did feel like a nice treat for my hair. It was relaxing sitting with it in for sure.

The not-so good
-I wouldn't say my hair felt that nourished after I rinsed it out. You know when you use a great conditioner and in the shower, your hair feels like silk? I was expected to have that but I didn't - thought that might just be my hair type.

Overall...
I do think it's worth the money. For £1 it's a great treat for your hair. Yes, it might not be as great as a more expensive hair mask but that's what is to be expected. It smells great and did my hair some good too! I'd definitely purchase one (or one similar) in the future when my hair needs a pick me up!

Where can I buy it?
You can purchase it here: Link
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I haven't really changed my skincare in a while - which I know isn't so good. The seasons changing makes my skin change, and it goes without saying that my skincare routine should change a little too. I was contacted by a lovely lady called Selina, who I know from work, about trying out some of the 'Arbonne RE9 Advanced' skincare products. Before I go any further, let me say that I'm in no way being paid for this post! I just tried and liked them so much I wanted to write about them. I said yes as soon as I saw that the products were vegan [something that I take into consideration with any beauty product I purchase now] and started using them straight away. Read below to see what I thought:

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">This range is specifically targeted to around my age [18-30] and aims to give a lovely glow. As someone who suffers from very dry, sensitive skin, finding products that leave my skin feeling nourished is quite difficult. T<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">he set I tried contained 4 products; gel eye masks, cleansing polish, hydrating dew cream & soft focus veil broad spectrum SPF 30. I have sensitive skin so if you do to then rest assured that for me, it was okay. These products are all quite different, so I'm going to review them individually!
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">
This was actually the first product I tried in the range, and at first, I wasn't too sure what to expect. This product is a tinted moisturiser with SPF 30 - which is perfect for the summer as I don't like having foundation on in the hot weather too much. I used it as a dewy base for my foundation but also used it by itself with some mascara. It gives my skin such a lovely glow. It's easy to put on and it blends well. I didn't need to use too much product to cover my face, either. I was worried that it would make my face too orange [as has happened with past tinted moisturisers] but it suited my pale skin well!
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">
Cleansing Polish
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">
This product was very different to what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a thick cleansing product but it was more like an exfoliating scrub. I used it to take my face makeup off as well as cleanse and it did a great job. It felt like it was really getting the dirt off my skin so I went to bed with a fresh face. For my eye makeup I did have to use some micellar water to take that off as I couldn't use this product for my eyes but I didn't mind too much.
I thought that I would use these in the evening, but I actually end up using them in the morning a few times, mostly whilst I was drinking my coffee. It was a relaxing start to the day for sure. Though I can imagine using these after a long shift at work would be nice. They were so cooling and hydrating. Be careful as they can be a bit slippery and tend to slide down a little too though lol.
It doesn't have SPF or a tint to it, it just does what a moisturiser needs to do! It feels quick thick in consistency which is what I personally prefer for night time. This product is good, and it worked well with my skin and didn't sting or tingle like some do. I did though accidentally get some in my eye and... ouch!

During my time studying my undergraduate degree, I like to think I dealt with stress quite well. But since studying my master's degree, my stress levels have reached an all-time high. The past few months have been really hard, and it started to affect my health - both mentally and physically. It wasn't until a few months ago that I figured out a way to get all my work done, balance a job and still have a social life. I figured why not put it into a blog post!

If something you have control over is stressing you out - change it
Since September, I had been trying to juggle a part-time job alongside studying and having a social life. During my undergraduate degree, I didn't have a part-time job, so balancing the two for this academic year was a new challenge for me. I had chosen a job that was much more stressful than I had imaged. I loved the job, and the kids I coached were fab, but I felt it wasn't the right job for me right now. I worked out my finances and tried to figure out if this decision was the best one financially. Luckily, I figured out I would be okay. I handed in my resignation with the relief knowing that I would be able to leave to focus on studying. I know for a lot of people it's not possible to leave their job, but moving to a less stressful one, or one with better pay and fewer hours could be beneficial too.

Google Calendar should be your best friend
I was introduced to Google Calendar by my boyfriend. He had been using it for a while and swore by it. Originally I didn't get the hype, but I soon joined the bandwagon. I am now able to plan out every aspect of every day leading up to deadlines and exams. I can have my work, social life and finances all planned out in the same place. A few months ago, when I felt overwhelmed with work, I tried finding a way to use the calendar to plan out my essays. What I do now is plan what uni work I am going to do every day (and of course I have some days off too to keep me sane). Here's an example below...

I can plan what essay I'm working on or what exam I'm revising for each day - and how many words or how much time. I also use the notes section to plan what I'm doing specifically. Whether this be just writing 800 words or if there's something I need to research. In the last month, I had 8000 words to write and a 2.5-hour exam to prepare for, so I had to plan each part out piece by piece, day by day - which made it a lot more manageable. This leads me to my next point...

Deal with it in small chunks and take it one step at a time
It was about 2 months ago when I sat in my room on a Monday morning, looked at all the work I had to do and freaked out. I felt so overwhelmed that I just cried for about an hour and felt like I wasn't going to be able to get it all done. So, I took the rest of the day to watch Netflix, chill and tried to relax. Realistically, I wasn't going to get anything productive done because my mind was running all over the place. So, the next day I woke up and started to work on planning out my work on my Google Calendar - as I mentioned before.

Have a lazy day
I feel like we're in an age where we feel like we have to be constantly busy. For some people that's possible, but for the rest of us, it's not. We're all allowed to have a sloth day. To do absolutely nothing and not feel guilty. It's good for your body and your mind. I usually have Sunday as my day where I relax, watch Netflix and maybe go for a walk to clear my mind - ready for Monday morning.

Mindfulness
This is something I'm trying to work on. Mindful.org describes mindfulness as 'the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we're doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what's going on around us.' It's definitely something that takes practice. I used to get too overwhelmed by life too often now it's much less. I find a way of dealing with it is to tell a friend, boyfriend etc. how you're feeling. They often provide clarity as an outsider into your situation.

Cut out caffeine
I know that most students run on caffeine. But, for me, it brings out my anxiety and gives me the shakes if I add it to my body when I'm already feeling stressed. I tend to let myself have 1 cup of caffeine a day - either a coffee or a cup of tea. The rest of the time I have squash or decaf - and I can't taste the difference! I know this is something that isn't for everyone but it works for me.

Still take time to do things you enjoy
This is on the same lines as previous points, but it's good to make sure you're still doing the activities that make you feel good. Whether this is going to the gym, making YouTube videos or reading a book. I like to work on my blog or go for date night - to the cinema or out for dinner. It's just doing something that makes you feel you.

If you're really struggling, then Mind is a great place for help and advice. You can find them here. Sometimes it can get too much, and seeking help will really be beneficial for you. I can say, from experience, that counselling or talking to your doctor before things get too much can work wonders. Also, bear in mind that nothing on this list may work for you - but I'm sure there are 10 other things that will so don't worry.
The other day my Revolution highlighter broke and it was definitely time for a new one. I previously bought a revolution highlighter palette and was super impressed. However, it's quickly running out! I had a browse online and tried to find a cruelty free and affordable palette. Then I came across this! It looked beautiful on the website and when I saw it in store it looked even better! Here's the swatches and up close photos of the highlighter palette:
I bought this palette from Superdrug and it cost me £8. You can buy it online here: Link. Now onto the swatches.

The swatches:
The highlights don't have names which is a bit of a shame. The first photo's swatches is from the first row [From right to left] and the second photo's swatches are the bottoms row [From right to left]. One thing I noticed was how pigmented these are! I have swatches some Mac highlighters before and they weren't as pigmented as these.. very impressed!

Christmas 2017 has come to an end - and this Christmas was as lovely as always. I feel very lucky to have been surrounded by lots of love and lots of food. I love watching/reading what other people got for Christmas, so that's the reason for today's blog post. I didn't want to do a post with all of the gifts I got but instead chose 5 of my favourite gifts I received this year to share with you. I'm thankful for all the gifts I received, and obviously, this blog post is purely for the curious and not for me to brag! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas 😊🎄
As the colder months have begun to come in, I've found myself making more effort with my makeup. It's probably because there's not the problem of the 30-degree heat melting it all off. For today's post, I've included the top 5 lip colours I've been reaching for this week. I've also linked to where you can buy them where possible!
The consistency of this lipstick is a bit peculiar. It's quite dry in texture, but the main plus is that it stays on for ages. It's a dark shade but you can get away with wearing it in the day-time as well as for an evening look. Perfect for Christmas parties!

The NYX Liquid Suedes are my all-time favourite. The consistency is moisturising, they last forever and the applicated makes life so much easier. I think everyone would be able to find a shade they love in this collection.

I find the NYX Lingerie's very similar to the Liquid Suede, but perhaps not as moisturising. Nevertheless, like the Liquid Suedes, they stay on for a long time.

This is the only 'crayon-type' lipstick I have. It's strange in consistency but I just love the colour. It's one of my go-to nudes all-year-round.

Natual Collection Moisture Shine in Cedar

This lip shade is a great, cheap nude shade for everyday Autumn. It feels more like a tinted lip balm as it's not overly pigmented but does a fab job.

At the beginning of September, I went to visit my friend Magda in Poland. We began in Gdansk and finished in Warsaw. I didn't take my Canon with me but I did capture some photos on my iPhone. I was reminiscing today and decided to share these pictures with you all. Poland was such an amazing country - every single building was so beautiful and I was sad to leave. Hopefully, I can visit again at some point. Enjoy!
Like many other students, I'm over halfway through my first semester at university. Assignments are coming in and stress levels are starting to creep up. With next week (1st Nov) being stress awareness day I thought it might be fitting for today's blog post to be on self-care. I've put together my top 6 things that I find helpful - and even included a self-care printable pdf checklist. The document can be found after this blog post. ⬇️ Happy reading!

1) Positive affirmation
It's good to be your own cheerleader. For example, if a friend was going on about how gross they looked today or how stupid they are, would you agree with them? No, you wouldn't. So why should you do that to yourself? Every day tell yourself 3 things that are great about you. 'You look great today, 'you nailed that presentation' and 'you've been a great friend to Joe recently' all work.

2) Drink up
As obvious as it sounds, drinking lots of water can help with so many things. As well as being a natural headache remedy, it helps with digestion and can do wonders for your skin. Also, if you're hydrated you're going to have more energy to get everything to need to get done, done.

3) Practice mindfulness
Life can often be so hectic we often don't take time to be in the present moment. Mindfulness can help you to connect with your own thoughts and feelings. You can work on mindfulness by choosing a different seat in class, trying a different coffee shop and making gratitude part of your routine.
I find the app Headspace is good, you can find out more about it here: https://www.headspace.com/. Also let me know in the comments below if you'd like a separate/bigger blogpost on mindfulness!

4) Move your body
Exercise benefits every part of your body - including the mind. Exercise doesn't have to be spending hours in the gym. You can have a swim, take a walk, play tennis, or cycle (amongst many other options.) The choice is yours. The NHS website says those aged 19-64 should exercise at 150 minutes per week - so about 20 minutes per day. They also suggest doing strength exercises just to keep your body in tip top shape.

5) Me time
Over the past year i've realised the importance of being social and spending time around other people. However, it's also made me realise it's good to be by yourself sometimes. 30 minutes of alone-time a day will help. It allows you to de-stress and do literally whatever you want. I prefer to have my me-time just before bed with a cup of tea.

6) Say yes
The sense of achievement when you do something out of your comfort zone. It broadens your mental boundaries. It could just be anything from volunteering to lead a project to saying yes to a social event where there arent many people you know going. But it doesn't have to be something big - saying hi to the new girl/guy in class is great too.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hello everyone! Long time no see. I've been wanting to write this blog post since the day I started using this palette - the Primark Master Eye Palette. Here's what I think:

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I wasn't actually looking for a new eyeshadow palette when I saw this. I noticed the colours and thought that it would be great for the daytime as well as the night-time. When I saw it was £5 I was sold! I had never bought any makeup products from Primark I wasn't expecting much - after all, it's super cheap. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The palette:
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The good:
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The colours are super pigmented - considering the price.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As I said earlier, the palette can be used for daytime look or night-time. There's a mixture of natural shades and more glitzy colours.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have been using this palette for around 2 months and the palette still has plenty of product left. As the colours are so pigmented, you really don't need much product each time.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The not-so-good:
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The only bad thing I could find with this palette was that there was a bit of fall out - but only with the matte shades. When I put some product on my brush there is a lot that falls off, but I just tap the brush on the side of the packaging and it's fine.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Overall:
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Price: £5
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Rating: 3/5
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Where can I buy? I got mine from Primark in East Sussex but i'm sure they sell it in most stores!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Swatches:
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The colours are from the top left to the bottom right of the palette - left to right on my arm. Hope that makes sense! I do feel like the swatches don't really do the palette justice. Also, bear in mind my arm is un-primed! On the eyes, the colour is a lot better. Keep your eyes peeled for a YouTube video using this palette soon!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">P.s did you know, I also have a YouTube channel?
Last Saturday I went to Brighton to help my friend Grace film some footage for her Final Major Project. We decided to make a day of it. We had a walk around, shopped a bit and grabbed FOOD.

Grace' burger obsession is rubbing off on me - and we went for burgers. I'd never been to JB's in Brighton but grace has. She loved it, so we decided to have lunch there! I ordered the Classic chicken Burger and added bacon as an option.

Atmosphere 8/10:
The decor is amazing, you can tell so much effort went into making the restaurant look authentic. There wasn't a blank space on the wall which you'll be able to see from the pictures. It was great. The servers were also so friendly. They always had a smile on their face and the service was super fast. When we arrived we were told there was a 25-minute wait, but in the end, we were only waiting for 10 minutes. The food didn't take long to come out either.

Food 6/10:
The food was good in terms of portion size. I felt like I was nice and full after eating - and I was starving so had a big appetite. Sauces such as BBQ, ketchup, mayo etc. were all free. A lot of places I visit charge for BBQ sauce. Since I'm addicted to BBQ sauce, I was happy to load my burger up with it for free. the burger itself was full of flavour. The chicken wasn't dry which was nice, but the chips were. they seemed like they had been a bit over cooked and they didn't really have much flavour. However, once I put a load of salt on they tasted fine.

Price: 6/10:
I bought the Classic Chicken burger. Under the beef burger menu, there was an option to add bacon for 65p, so I asked if I could add bacon to my chicken burger and the waitress said yes. I was a bit annoyed when we got the receipt and saw I had been charged £1.75 for bacon in my burger, but I don't like to make a fuss so I didn't say anything. Safe to say I won't be adding bacon to my burger in the future. My burger itself (which came with chips and salad) cost only £8.65 which I thought was a great price. I'm used to paying around £10 for a burger meal at other restaurants.

My skin has changed quite a lot recently - and I've also got into the habit of wearing a 'full face' of makeup most of the time. I went through a stage where my skin was so awful that I was too scared to put makeup on incase it made it worse. Luckily, as I've got older my skin has managed to sort itself out and I am able to enjoy makeup again. I am also going to be doing a YouTube video on how I cleared up my skin so keep an eye out for that! My channel can be found here.

I've been using products that had been hidden within my makeup drawers for a year or so (don't worry, my makeup is mostly still in date haha.) I had bought this foundation after the Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation which was amazing. I wanted something with a bit more coverage, and after asking around my friends, I decided to try this one.

The good:

I have dry skin and this works well. I feel like this foundation is quite dewy, and makes my skin look moisturised. I don't need to put moisturiser on before I apply too which is nice.

This foundation does last pretty much all day. It only really comes off if I accidentally wipe my face on my sleeve or something. I'd be lying if I said my foundation was still in perfect condition by the end of the day, but i'm happy with how long it lasts.

I have quite red skin. This foundation makes sure none of that redness comes through - all day! It just makes my skintone look a lot more even. It also does a good job of covering my dark circles under my eyes which is always a bonus. Sometimes I don't even need to conceal under my eyes because the foundation does a good enough job on its own.

Last but certainly not least - I love the price. As a student, I can't really afford to spend £30 on a foundation. This Foundation is super cheap. It's only £7.99 from superdrug and you can buy it here. Mine has also lasted a long time. I use roughly 3 pumps on my face per use which gives me good coverage.

The not-so-good:

I really have to use the right kind of tools to apply this foundation. If I use certain brushes then it doesn't go on too well. This could just be down to my skin type, but it's something worth mentioning.

When my skin was a lot drier than it is now, I didn't get on well with this foundation as much. It didn't sit on my skin nicely. Everyone's skin is different. If you have super dry skin this may work for you! It just didn't for me at that time.

Hello everyone - long time no speak!

Today I am uploading something a bit different - a YouTube video. One of my new year's resolutions was to start a YouTube channel after wanting to for years. So here's my first video. Please be kind. You can tell I was super nervous of my housemates hearing me, but I'm happy with the result. Do let me know in the comments below what you think! Link for the video is just below this image! 😊💖

Too Faced

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I've recently been wearing more makeup on a daily basis. I've been working on my eyeshadow skills and worked out what colours look right on me. After months of testing and trying I've found an eyeshadow palette that works perfectly for an everyday natural eyeshadow look!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I picked up this Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette just under two years ago. I bought it after a sales assistant in Debenhams persuaded me that I needed it in my life (typical Lauren.) I didn't really use it much until around 6 months ago. I got more into eyeshadow and enjoyed wearing a natural eye every day. This palette is perfect. It can create a really simple look, and can also be dolled up to an evening look.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The shaddows are all easy to lend together as long as you use a proper base. I like to use concealer as my eyeshaddow base and then use nude coloured shaddow to set it.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> All of the colours are pigmented, and you don't need to spend aaaages buiding up the colour. Though keeping this in mind, a little goes a long way with these, trust me.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This palette also lasts for a long time. I've had it for a while and use it almost everyday. Don't get me wrong, the shaddows are slowing getting to the 'hitting pan' stage but slowly being the oporative word.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">One of the great things about this palette is how small it is. There's no unnessecary packaging so it's quite compact. This makes it easier when you're travelling. It's the perfect palette to fit in your makeup bag.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Too Faced also sell a palette that looks very similar named the 'Neutral Eyes' palette. Both of the palettes are very similar, but the Neutral eyes palette includes darker shades so this would be for someone who wants more of an 'everyday glam' rather than 'everyday natural.'

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Where can you purchase it?

I've used Benefit Roller Lash for a while now, but as it ran out I wanted to find a cheaper replacement. I saw Kaushal Beauty made a video with L'Oreal using this mascara and decided to research online a bit more. The brush looked fairly similar to Benefit's - I like a firm plastic wand. I looked at the tester in Boots and the formula looked good too.

Benefit's Roller lash is £19.99 and L'oreal Volume Million Lashes is £9.99 so you can get two L'oreal's for the price of one from Benefit. But is it worth it? Here what I think;

Pro's
* The formula is great. It doesn't smudge onto my eyelids as many others do.
* The brush is good at getting all the lashes, even the little ones.
* I can use it on my lower lashes without it looking too spider-like.
* I've been using it everyday for at least 6 weeks and it doesn't seem to be at all drying or running out.
* I can get super voluminous lashes with it.
* It does well at curling my lashes - I don't need to curl them beforehand.

Con's
* I do have to apply the product quite a few times to get the look I want. However, I do like big full lashes! (who doesn't?)

Overall, I think this is a great, cheaper option to Roller Lash! You can purchase it here.

Hello everyone!

My cousin Jessica [www.itsjessiejane.com] recently did a FOTD for Autumn and I decided to have a go too! I do enjoy the sun, but being born in the Winter makes me a winter baby at heart. I just love autumn colours and wrapping up in a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate.
Being a blogger is great for so many reasons. It's my creative outlet that I can share with my friends and whoever else wants to read it! Occasionally I'm lucky enough to be sent some amazing products to try. Whenever I get sent a product I always make sure to test it as much as I can - so I can give a full and honest review!

When Spectrum Collections sent me some of their brushes I was smiling from ear to ear. I've been checking out their products on Instagram for a while now, and I'm so happy I finally have some!!

All of their brushes are Vegan Registered & Cruelty-Free which is amazing. I've been trying to be more cruelty-free conscious when purchasing makeup products recently. If there are brands that are vegan & cruelty-free then I'll always choose them over other brands.

Their brushes can be bought individually or in a set, and today I'll be reviewing the 10 Piece Essential Set. The individual brush numbers can be seen in the images. I've used these brushes for 2 weeks to be able to give a good review.

What Do I Think?
* The first thing I noticed when I opened up the package and held the brushes was how soft they were.
* The 10 Piece Brush Set has a brush for everything. You can create a full-face look using them.
* The brushes are super soft and not itchy - like many affordable brushes I've tried.
* They're easy to clean in between uses.

Any Negatives?
The only thing I would say is a (slight) negative, is that the B01 brush has been stained by my foundation. It could be the type of foundation I used, or that I'm just not cleaning it correctly. As you might be able to see in the image, it's got a slight tinge of foundation colour. But that doesn't affect the use of it at all, and it is still my favourite brush!

My Favourite Brush?
B01

Why?
For the past year or so I have had to use a beauty blender to make my makeup set into my skin. Previously when I've used foundation brushes, they make my foundation sit on top of my skin and make it hard to blend. BUT this brush made my makeup routine a lot easier. With this brush, I can apply the foundation straight to my face and blend it in no problem!
Recently my local Boots store has opened up a NYX counter and I couldn't be happier! So, of course, I couldn't resist the temptation of purchasing a few goodies.

I picked up 5 different lip products. I got three Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks and two Lingerie Lipsticks. These shades are:

Soft Spoken

Cherry Skies

Sandstorm

Bedtime Flirt

Teddy

So what do I think?

* These products stay on for hours. Even through eating/drinking.

* They are super easy to apply. The applicator is small enough so you don't overline your lips.

* The consistency of the lipsticks are excellent. They're not too sticky which makes the application process much easier.

Where can you purchase them?
