How I keep my skin hydrated whilst flying | Lauren's Lifestyle

I've always had pretty dry skin but wow flying has taken it to a whole new level. With this cold weather, I've started to incorporate more into my skincare routine to ensure my skin is lovely and hydrated. I often get asked on my Instagram how I keep my skin and body hydrated so I decided it would be easiest to put it into a blog post. It's also the first time I'm using my phone camera as opposed to my DSLR for today's post, let me know what you think of the pictures below!..

Body
First off let's start off with my base. These are the products I put on my skin whilst getting ready for work. I always put on some form of body moisturiser soon as I get out of the shower. As it's now getting closer to Christmas, I've started using my winter favourite which is the Peppermint Candy Cane Body Lotion from The Body Shop. It smells like Christmas and keeps my hands and body moisturised for hours. For the flight, I put some of this into a small tub so that it fits within my liquid allowance and I'm able to take it on board with me. As far as I am aware, you can still buy this Peppermint Candy Cane range in stores.

Face
Once I moisturise my body I use a hydrating mist for my face. I got this Rosewater & Coconut Facial Mist from TKMaxx and it's quite nice. The scent is refreshing but I feel it can sometimes not feel so great if my skin is being particularly sensitive one day. With that being said, it does an amazing job of hydrating my skin. I used a generous amount on my skin and the scent is lovely. I tend to let this sink in whilst I'm doing my hair or getting dressed before putting other products on my skin.

Face
This moisturiser has been a favourite of mine for years. Not only is it cruelty-free, but the scent is amazing and works well with my sensitive skin. It can be bought online but I usually purchase mine from my local boots. Their Hot Cloth Cleanser is also amazing too. I use this moisturiser more in the winter as I find it quite thick, and in the summer months, my skin doesn't need so much. I let this sink in for a few minutes before putting on my foundation and it makes a lovely base.

Lips
Lip balm is a must on and off the plane. I apply this whenever I have the chance. While I'm flying I am applying lipstick fairly often too, but this dries them out. This lip balm is cruelty-free, super cheap and super moisturising. I feel like I struck gold when I picked this up one day in town when I forgot to put lip balm in my handbag. I keep this in my gilet pocket and apply it every half hour or so and usually, this stops my lips drying out throughout the flight. I can't seem to find this product online, but I usually find it near the tills in-store, along with their hand wipes (which smell lush) and their hand cream (which I am yet to try).

Face
Even after hydrating my skin prior to applying my makeup, the plane still dries my skin out. I usually notice it around 4hr into the flight. I spray this on my face after the food service (so around 3hr in) then before and after my break. Sometimes after spraying this I then apply some concealer using a damp beauty blender on parts of my face which are looking particularly dry.

Other things to note:
Keeping your body hydrated helps to keep your skin hydrated too. I try to drink as much water as possible on the flight and have peppermint tea when I need to warm up. Once I get to my hotel room I take my makeup off straight away, wash my face, apply spot treatment (as flying usually breaks me out) and moisturise. When I have time, I usually apply a facemask before pickup too, in preparation for the next flight.
