RECENT BEAUTY BUYS | Lauren's Lifestyle

Today's blog post is a small haul! I recently picked up a few beauty bits and today I'm going to share them with you.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation
This is my current favourite foundation and I've recently run out of it. I finally picked up a new bottle and can't wait to start using it again. I do think it's gone up in price since I bought my last bottle but it's still modestly priced at around £8.

Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick in Cedar
Natural Collection's lipsticks are highly underrated. I've bought a few in the past and loved them. They're super moisturising and the colours are beautiful. For £1.99 you really can't go wrong.

Wilko Lashes in Natural
I have been on the hunt for some new, affordable and natural lashes. I went into Wilko just for a browse and came across these. They were only a few pounds so I decided to try them. I do struggle with finding lashes that aren't too 'butterfly' in size, as big lashes look dreadful on me.

NYX Eyeshadow in Chaleur
I've not tried NYX eyeshadows before so I am very excited to try this. I love wearing red shades on my eyelids as I think they go nicely with brown eyes and brown hair. This eyeshadow was £3.50 which is super affordable.

What are your recent beauty buys? Let me know in the comments below! ALSO I am posting a lot more on my YouTube channel and would love if you could check it out. My channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_kdiozX0lrZYu91wAixBJw?sub_confirmation=1

Bye for now,

Food review: JB's American Diner in Brighton

Last Saturday I went to Brighton to help my friend Grace film some footage for her Final Major Project. We decided to make a day of it. We had a walk around, shopped a bit and grabbed FOOD.

Grace' burger obsession is rubbing off on me - and we went for burgers. I'd never been to JB's in Brighton but grace has. She loved it, so we decided to have lunch there! I ordered the Classic chicken Burger and added bacon as an option.

Atmosphere 8/10:
The decor is amazing, you can tell so much effort went into making the restaurant look authentic. There wasn't a blank space on the wall which you'll be able to see from the pictures. It was great. The servers were also so friendly. They always had a smile on their face and the service was super fast. When we arrived we were told there was a 25-minute wait, but in the end, we were only waiting for 10 minutes. The food didn't take long to come out either.

Food 6/10:
The food was good in terms of portion size. I felt like I was nice and full after eating - and I was starving so had a big appetite. Sauces such as BBQ, ketchup, mayo etc. were all free. A lot of places I visit charge for BBQ sauce. Since I'm addicted to BBQ sauce, I was happy to load my burger up with it for free. the burger itself was full of flavour. The chicken wasn't dry which was nice, but the chips were. they seemed like they had been a bit over cooked and they didn't really have much flavour. However, once I put a load of salt on they tasted fine.

Price: 6/10:
I bought the Classic Chicken burger. Under the beef burger menu, there was an option to add bacon for 65p, so I asked if I could add bacon to my chicken burger and the waitress said yes. I was a bit annoyed when we got the receipt and saw I had been charged £1.75 for bacon in my burger, but I don't like to make a fuss so I didn't say anything. Safe to say I won't be adding bacon to my burger in the future. My burger itself (which came with chips and salad) cost only £8.65 which I thought was a great price. I'm used to paying around £10 for a burger meal at other restaurants.

Current Foundation Favourite - Rimmel London Lasting Finish

My skin has changed quite a lot recently - and I've also got into the habit of wearing a 'full face' of makeup most of the time. I went through a stage where my skin was so awful that I was too scared to put makeup on incase it made it worse. Luckily, as I've got older my skin has managed to sort itself out and I am able to enjoy makeup again. I am also going to be doing a YouTube video on how I cleared up my skin so keep an eye out for that! My channel can be found here.

I've been using products that had been hidden within my makeup drawers for a year or so (don't worry, my makeup is mostly still in date haha.) I had bought this foundation after the Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation which was amazing. I wanted something with a bit more coverage, and after asking around my friends, I decided to try this one.

The good:

I have dry skin and this works well. I feel like this foundation is quite dewy, and makes my skin look moisturised. I don't need to put moisturiser on before I apply too which is nice.

This foundation does last pretty much all day. It only really comes off if I accidentally wipe my face on my sleeve or something. I'd be lying if I said my foundation was still in perfect condition by the end of the day, but i'm happy with how long it lasts.

I have quite red skin. This foundation makes sure none of that redness comes through - all day! It just makes my skintone look a lot more even. It also does a good job of covering my dark circles under my eyes which is always a bonus. Sometimes I don't even need to conceal under my eyes because the foundation does a good enough job on its own.

Last but certainly not least - I love the price. As a student, I can't really afford to spend £30 on a foundation. This Foundation is super cheap. It's only £7.99 from superdrug and you can buy it here. Mine has also lasted a long time. I use roughly 3 pumps on my face per use which gives me good coverage.

The not-so-good:

I really have to use the right kind of tools to apply this foundation. If I use certain brushes then it doesn't go on too well. This could just be down to my skin type, but it's something worth mentioning.

When my skin was a lot drier than it is now, I didn't get on well with this foundation as much. It didn't sit on my skin nicely. Everyone's skin is different. If you have super dry skin this may work for you! It just didn't for me at that time.

What foundation do you use? Let me know in the comments below!

Bye for now,
Lauren
